Mission Statement and Purpose

National Honor Society is a nationally renown organization whose purpose is to help its members be enthusiastic about about learning, to achieve leadership status, have a drive to help those in need, and to continue to develop individual character.

The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginnings in 1921.

Today, its is estimated that more than one million students participate in activities of the NHS. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. Territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognized students for their accomplishments, but challengs them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

There are many requirements you must live up to, to maintain your membership in NHS including community service, support of NHS functions, the founding and leadership of committees, and maintaining an acceptable grade point average.
